A Year and A Day
A Year and a Day is a solo exhibition by Aubrey Sloan, presented at Stark Street Studios & Gallery in Southeast Portland in June 2026.
This exhibition explores working-class labor, motherhood, and the unseen labor that carries life through time. Centered around a 365-piece ceramic installation, the work reflects daily repetition, cyclical experience, and the rhythms of embodied time through the lens of the menstrual cycle.
Additional works expand this framework across different scales — from a single moment of birth, to a year of daily labor, to the arc of a lifetime and beyond. Together, the exhibition considers how labor, care, and endurance shape both individual lives and collective experience.

"A Year and A Day"
A Year and a Day is an installation of three-hundred and sixty-five small porcelain cups, displayed in twenty-eight columns and thirteen rows, with one anomalous cup, “A Day”, completing the 365th piece. This piece explores cyclical time, labor, and value through the lens of the menstrual cycle.
